Sametnangshe Boutique Hotel has one of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen. The hotel is located in the Phang Nga province in southern Thailand. The views of the limestone islands jutting out of Phang Nga Bay are unlike anything I’ve experienced! Mike and I stayed here for one night on our way to Khao Sok National Park.
Getting There
From Bangkok, we flew to Krabi, which takes about 1.5 hours. We would be ending our Thailand trip in the town of Krabi, so it made the most sense to fly there. However, Sametnangshe is a little closer to Phuket. It takes about two hours driving from Krabi and one hour driving from Phuket.
Driving/Parking
The drive went smoothly and the roads were in great condition! It was highway driving most of the way there, and the final stretch was under construction and was a gravel road when we visited. However, we had no issues driving it with our small sedan. The hotel is clearly marked with a sign along the road. When we pulled in, security showed us the way to their parking lot. There were several other cars who were visiting the cafe for the day. When we left the next morning, we were the only car in the lot.
If you do not want to drive, the hotel does offer private transportation as another option.
Check in + getting to the room
Security got our bags from our car and escorted us to the lobby for check in. We were greeted with a yummy fruity drink and floral bracelet. They then called a truck to drive us up the super steep hill to the resort. Our bags were taken separately and arrived about 30 minutes later. You do have the option to walk, but it is very steep!

The Room
The staff showed us the way to our room, which had an incredible view. We stayed in one of the “Deluxe” rooms, which is small but fine for a night. From what I could tell, there are only two of this type of room, and they are side by side. The one we stayed in had an incredible view from inside the room, as the windows wrapped around the side. However, the room next to us didn’t really have a view from inside. The two rooms share a balcony. There was no one else staying in the other room while we were there, so we had the balcony to ourselves.
They have several other unique rooms, including villas with bathtubs on their balconies that overlook the incredible view. This would be a splurge, but worth it for a special occasion!

Pool
The pool is incredible, but small. There were only about six lounge chairs, and four were taken when I arrived late afternoon. A waitress made her way around a few times while I was there. It was so nice and relaxing.

Dinner
After we’d dropped our things at our room, we headed back down to the restaurant to make a dinner reservation. We got to pick a specific table for our reservation, which had a great view. We made the reservation around the time of sunset, which ended up being perfect.

I ordered a lychee mocktail, which was one of my favorite drinks of the trip. We wanted a switch up from Thai food, so we ordered from their Italian menu. I got pizza and Mike got chicken alfredo. Both were okay, but nothing great. There aren’t really any other restaurants nearby, outside of the few other hotels in the area, so this was kind of our only option. The convenience was nice since we could easily walk there from our room after a long day of travel. The meal was on the pricier side for Thailand, but they did accept credit cards, unlike most restaurants in this country.

Cafe Bay View for sunrise
I woke up about 30 minutes before sunrise and climbed the stairs up to the hotel’s cafe. This cafe is open to the public during the day, unlike the hotel’s main restaurant. However, it doesn’t open until 10:30am. That means that the cafe’s view will not be crawling with tourists like other viewpoints in the area since only hotel guests can access it until the cafe opens.

The view is even better than the rest of the property since you have to climb further up the hill. To my surprise, I was the only person up there, so I could take as many photos and enjoy the view for as long as I wanted in peace. This was one of my favorite sunrises I’ve ever experienced. I could actually see the hotel next door’s viewpoint, which had TONS of people while I was enjoying my peace and quiet alone.

Breakfast
Breakfast was included with our stay and the restaurant is open from 6:30 to 9:30am. It is at the same restaurant as dinner. You have the option for a light breakfast buffet (fruits, yogurts, etc), or you can order a meal from the menu. We thought the breakfast food was much better than dinner.

Overall Thoughts
I would recommend staying here for a night or two! Our room was a little too small to be comfortable for more than one night in my opinion. There just wasn’t any space to put our bags and the bed was all the way up against the wall, making getting in and out in the middle of the night a challenge. However, if you stayed in one of the villas, I’d think a two-night stay here would be perfect!
The only other downside was the dinner food, but I’d try ordering from their Thai menu instead of Italian if I went back. Everything else was absolute perfection!
